field Active Support Workshop - What, why and how? Part 1

field Active Support Workshop - What, why and how? Part 1
Workshop overview
This workshop provides practical strategies to implement active support in the workplace.

Participants develop a working understanding of Active Support, building on knowledge of the Person-Centred Approaches underpinning current support practice. It is a 3 hour session utilising the experiences of participants to increase practical understanding within today's service and policy context.

The workshop is also running on May 15.

Who should attend
This workshop is specifically designed for disability direct support workers. It will also be valuable for the supervisors and managers of those workers. Learning activities in the session assume participants are working directly with people with disability.

Workshop content
At the completion of the workshop, participants will have a practical understanding of:

Person-Centred Approach (O'Brien)
Engagement and Participation (Mansell and others)
5 Levels of Support (Jones et al)
Useful Active Support Strategies
Challenges they may encounter (ie: Duty of Care, OH&S etc)
A Certificate of Attendance is provided at the completion of the session to participants. This session compliments the nationally accredited units of competency, but it is not an accredited 'unit'.
