New program at Melton Waves Leisure Centre. The KickStart Swimming Program provides swimming lessons for children aged 3yrs+ with autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing difficulties and developmental delay.
Swimming instructors have undergone specific training and have been provided with additional resources (picture cards, picture schedules etc) to ensure they are able to provide more inclusive programs which better meet the needs of children with specific communication and learning needs.
All the details are attached.
Access All Abilities Melton is working in partnership with Sunbury Community Health Centre on a two-year project to roll the KickStart Program out across Victoria. Statewide, the aim is to train 150 instructors, to establish KickStart swimming lessons in 75 Centres and for at least 150 children to participate in the program. Locally, we’re aiming to establish Melton Waves as a Centre of Excellence for aquatics programs for children with a disability.
New session added: 6pm and is for those aged 7yrs+.
