Families and carers of young people living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will be better able to respond to concerning behaviours thanks to a new $2.5 million, three-year behaviour support program from the Victorian Coalition Government.
Victoria’s new disability and family violence crisis response
The Disability and Family Violence Crisis Response Initiative is a 12 month pilot program run until December 2012 by Disability Services Division in the Department of Human Services. It aims to assist women and children with a disability who require immediate disability support to access a family violence crisis accommodation response.

A new website providing information to anyone in the community who may have been hurt by family violence was recently launched.
Melbourne Medical Companion Project
Utilises trained volunteers to meet people who are aged, have a disability or are frail at major bus terminals and Southern Cross Station and escort them to and from planned medical appointments in the CBD.
RECHARGE Scheme
This scheme is about encouraging businesses in the community to provide a power point so people who use an electric scooter or wheelchair can recharge their battery if required.
