What is MoneyMinded?
MoneyMinded is a free financial literacy program that is delivered to community organisations Australia wide. It provides a comprehensive suite of adult financial education resources to equip community workers with the financial knowledge and tools to use with their clients. MoneyMinded aims to improve the capabilities of individuals so they can successfully manage their day-to-day and long-term financial matters.
For more information about MoneyMinded you can visit the website: www.moneyminded.com.au

MoneyMinded history
MoneyMinded was developed from the ANZ survey of Adult Financial Literacy in Australia (2003) which identified a strong link between socio-economic status and financial literacy levels. It was from the survey findings that ANZ initiated the development of MoneyMinded. This program is free from any ANZ branding and promotion of products, focusing on the key objective to help build the financial capabilities of Australians.

How does the program work?

MoneyMinded helps transform ‘finance’ from something complicated and overwhelming into a tool that is understandable and manageable. MoneyMinded offers a tool kit of 8 topics that reflect the basics of financial education requirements that all people need to manage their financial situation.

The program can be delivered to community groups that aim to become ‘facilitators’ and will then continue to educate others using the MoneyMinded resources. Otherwise workshops can be delivered directly to client groups who need further knowledge and help with certain financial topics.

MoneyMinded network and resources

The Facilitator Training provides community workers with access to the MoneyMinded network which will provide them with many resources and activities. By gaining access to the network, community workers will be able to keep up-to-date with new ideas, information and useful tips to help their clients.

All community workers that attend the Facilitator Training will be given the MoneyMinded folder containing the 8 topics of information and worksheets along with a calculator, satchel and a pack of Priorities Cards (practical activity to use with your clients).
Facilitator Training
The Brotherhood of St Laurence offers a 3 day training package taking you through the MoneyMinded resource, preparing you to operate small group workshops or use the information one-on-one with clients in your program.
The content in the MoneyMinded materials is a great way to build your knowledge and understanding of every day money management. It will help you assist your clients to work through some of the financial difficulty they may be dealing with.
You are given the MoneyMinded resource at the end of the training and become part of the MoneyMinded network. As part of the network you will receive a Facilitator Code which will enable you to order MoneyMinded materials.
Who is the facilitator training for?
Community workers who are interested in running future workshops with client groups or who work with clients one-on-one and want to help educate them about financial topics that are associated with their day to day financial matters.
Past participants in this course have included: community staff and volunteers from community centre’s, the disability field, mental health groups, migrant groups, women’s centre’s, Centrelink, family services, Job Seeker employment agencies, Emergency Relief Centre’s and more.
