Whittlesea Recreation Access Program (W.R.A.P.)
W.R.A.P. provides recreation and leisure opportunities for adults who have a disability. Run
by the Whittlesea YMCA and funded by the Department of Human Services, W.R.A.P. involves
a number of activities for the local community, striving to ensure people with disabilities
are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of integrated recreation and leisure
activities of their choice.
W.R.A.P. aims to enhance socialization, independence, self-confidence
and motivation to all program participants.

W.R.A.P. Social Groups
W.R.A.P. Social Groups are fixed groups that access different community activities or events
on a fortnightly basis. Participants must be between 16 and 65 years of age, live in the City
of Whittlesea and have a disability that has low support needs. A transport fee of $2.00 is
charged to each participant, and participants are responsible for the cost of their own activity.
Acceptance to the group will depend on eligibility and suitability to existing groups. If no
vacancies exist, participants will be placed on a waiting list.

W.R.A.P. Aerobics (AAA)
W.R.A.P. hosts an aerobics class for people of all abilities each week anyone can join in, however,
AAA is specifically designed for people aged 16 to 65 years with a disability. Our qualified
instructor, combines martial arts, weights training, and step aerobics for an ideal work
out session. With easy moves and fun music, you are sure to have a great time! A volunteer
is on hand to offer support and encouragement. Those with high support needs will require
a carer (Carers can attend free of charge).
When: Wednesdays, 5:15pm-6:00pm (during school terms only).
Cost: $6.00 per session.


W.R.A.P. Basketball
W.R.A.P. runs a basketball competition for adults with an intellectual disability, with the focus
on fun, friendship, and having a go.
When: Fortnightly, from March to November, Saturdays 1:00-4:00pm
Cost: $25.00 Registration and $5.00 per game.
Where: RMIT, Bundoora Campus
How to register: Contact the W.R.A.P. Coordinator. Participants can register in a team or as
an individual. Participants must be able-bodied (wheel-chairs are not allowed) and all participants
are provided with a uniform.
